J.S. Bach – Toccata in F-sharp minor, BWV 910 | Ekaterina Chebotareva (Takamatsu, Japan, 2026)
On the eve of Easter, nothing conveys this spirit quite like the music of Bach. Speaking of biblical imagery within the Toccata in F-sharp minor, BWV 910, this music feels almost alive — a mother’s prayer trembling in silence, the weight of the Crucifixion unfolding through sound… And that final chord — perhaps not an ending, but a glimpse of the Resurrection. A message… for all of us. For Ekaterina Chebotareva, this is a deeply symbolic work, as it is the piece she dedicated to her professor, who is no longer with us. Location: Sunport Hall, Takamatsu, Japan Piano: @steinway Performance: Ekaterina Chebotareva With gratitude to the Takamatsu International Competition for this recording. #takamatsu #bach #toccata #ekaterinachebotareva #classicalpiano #pianomusic #bwv910 #baroquemusic #pianistlife #concertpianist

S. Rachmaninoff – Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 36 (1931) – Ekaterina Chebotareva
Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Sonata in its revised 1931 version is a monumental work - a vast musical canvas that speaks to the deepest layers of the human experience. In just under twenty minutes and three movements, the sonata traverses a world of emotion: unanswered questions, despair, struggle, transformation, and quiet triumph. From the very first bars, the listener is plunged into a storm of intensity - turbulent, overwhelming, searching. And yet, within this darkness lies a path. As the sonata unfolds, its themes evolve with poignant nostalgia and spiritual longing. Moments of lyrical beauty emerge like fragile memories, contrasting with sections of powerful resolve. Rachmaninoff draws us into his own inner world - a place of solitude, yearning, and finally, revelation. The final movement, with its grandeur and radiance, doesn’t end in easy resolution, but in something more profound: the sense of having walked through fire and come out transformed. It is a piece about becoming - a journey through emotional chaos toward clarity, identity, and meaning. One of the most demanding and personal works in the Romantic repertoire, this sonata is not only a test of pianistic mastery, but of expressive truth. #rachmaninoff #rachmaninoffsonata #pianomusic #romanticpiano #classicalpiano #russianmusic #ekaterinachebotareva #pianovirtuoso
